About

A Writer, A Ranger, and A Young Boy Bearing Arms

CL Stegall

CL Stegall was born in a small town just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. Although a southern gentlemen at heart, he was never quite comfortable in the “country”. Two days after his high school graduation, he found himself on a plane to Fort Dix, New Jersey and has not looked back since.

Serving ten years in the United States Army as both an engineer and as a linguist for military intelligence, he had a lifetime of experiences by the age of 27, when he left the military and headed west to California.

Living in San Diego for eleven years, it was the longest span of time he had spent in any one place. It was also where he met the love of his life, his Wife, Mona.

CL began writing stories in junior high and has found that it has always been his “port in the storm” of life. Escapism at its finest, writing allows for a necessary break from reality. His short stories have won several awards online which led him to try his hand at a full-length novel. His first novel, The Weight Of Night, was published in January 2011 and is receiving rave reviews. It is available on Amazon.com as well as in ebook for Kindle and the Nook. The second in the Progeny series, Red Tome, is scheduled for 2012. His Kindle Short, Trinkets And Arrows, also part of the Progeny series, is available from Amazon.

CL is the co-founder and CEO of Dark Red Press, a publishing co-op consisting of himself and three other writers.  You learn more here.

CL lives in the Dallas, TX, area with his irrepressible Wife and two prissy dogs.
