My Biography

HELLO !

Meet Me

For over four decades, since my teenage years first introduced me to the magic of putting words to page and melody to meaning, I've been exploring the intersection where story meets song, where poetry becomes prose. This isn't just a career—it's been a lifelong conversation with the creative spirit, a journey that has taught me as much about myself as about the craft.

” C.L. Stegall writes Young Adult books like Quentin Tarantino would write Young Adult! “

What began as youthful experimentation with fiction, poetry, and lyrics has evolved into something deeper: a commitment to truth in storytelling. Not the truth of facts and figures, but the truth of human experience—messy, complicated, and beautifully flawed. I've learned that the most compelling narratives emerge when characters are forced to confront not just external obstacles, but the internal landscapes that often prove far more treacherous.

In my thrillers, the real suspense comes not just from who committed the crime, but from whether the protagonist can overcome their own demons to solve it. My fantasy heroes must battle their inner doubts as fiercely as any dragon. Mystery protagonists unravel personal truths alongside the puzzles they're solving. Because that's how life works—we're all simultaneously the hero and the obstacle in our own stories.

This approach demands authenticity. It means my characters make mistakes, harbor contradictions, and sometimes fail in ways that matter. They carry emotional baggage alongside their plot armor. They face moral ambiguity, relationship complexities, and the kind of personal growth that only comes through genuine struggle.

WHAT DO I DO ?

I Write From The Heart

Four decades of writing has taught me that readers connect not with perfect characters, but with true ones. Truth resonates in ways that mere plot cannot, creating stories that linger long after the final page is turned or the last note fades.

This is where visual storytelling and sonic landscapes converge, where every story has its score and every song carries the seeds of narrative waiting to bloom.

What They Said About My Books

" I'm not one who usually reviews products. I go over other reviews, and form my opinion based on those, but I don't usually do this myself. But with this book, I felt like I had to. I was first inclined to think of this as a Percy Jackson-esque book, but I was quickly disabused of that notion. The Weight of Night stands way out in the crowd, from the character style (more human, with flaws, problems, and nothing easily laid out before them), to the Greek Gods themselves (also more lifelike). " I have to stress how absolutely great this book was. Written by an independent author, I felt like I was reading something I just bought right off the best-seller shelves at Barnes & Noble. The writing style is amazing: clean, quick, crisp, believable and polished. "

" Fast paced, but detailed story of the darkness we hope to never encounter. Well done, Mr. Stegall! "

RE: A Case of Wrath

" After reading the first page of 'One Night In Hollywood', you might think, 'Oh, not another vampire story, please!' In fact, that's exactly what I thought. But you'd be wrong if this is just another vampire story with the run-of-the-mill situations and romance involved. No, this is the story of Trip, a vampire whose ordeal in Hollywood makes you appreciate the writer's immense attention to detail. Although it is not a heavy plot, the story runs at a smooth pace that keeps the reader hooked, and the vampire element will surely not take away the fun from the story! "
